recently thrifted

I once again bought so much for so little!  14 pairs of vintage shorts(I'm wearing one pair today)!!  They are all home made and immaculate!  This woman really knew what she was doing.

I have the missing sleeve to this dress, the only question is should I put it in or take the other out?

I didn't even get all of the clothes I bought in this post!  There was so much, and I kept missing some of my favorite pieces!  Don't worry, you will see them on the blog soon!

what I wore: shorty

This dress turned out to not be a fabulously practical one for school.  It's a bit short for sitting and raising hands.  Whoops! But when have I been practical, really?  I also have to apologize for my less than good photos today, again, whoops.

what I wore: red ruffles

Round one of wearing vintage dresses I bought this last weekend!  I love the bright red color of this dress.  The full skirt with ruffles, poofy sleeves, and my platforms pretty much make this a win-win-win outfit.

Holy cow, was it hot today or what?!  I love that it is finally time for summer.  The bright colors, warm weather, and lazy days sewing and sleeping in are so close!  I can only imagine all of the beautiful dresses, shirts, and shorts I will make.  Oh, and garage sale season is starting!  How could someone not love that??

recently thrifted: oh my word!

Remember that estate sale I was talking about Friday?  I went to it yesterday.  It was indeed the best one I have ever been to.  I spent such little money in comparison to what I bought(but still a fair chunk of my bank account).

Everything there was perfectly hung up and pressed, which is rare for an estate sale.  A lot of times the clothes are wrinkles or dirty.  This woman kept her clothes in gorgeous condition!

I also have to gush about how kind and amazing the woman in charge of the clothes was.  As you look through the post, I bought a ton.  She added up half of the clothes I picked out from yesterday then cut the price to fifty dollars.  She picked up a dress from the pile she had not yet counted and told me that one alone would be twenty-five dollars, looked at everything, then told me to take it all for an incredible price, which was double what I actually had.  I told her I needed to narrow down because I only had half of what she asked for. You know what she said?  She told me she loved that I will wear them and she wants them to go to me because she knows I'll take care of them.  She gave them to me plus the vintage patterns in my hand for the money I had in my purse.

I was so excited and shocked I didn't know if I wanted to cry or pass out or jump all over.

The green dress above is from the 1930s.  I can now check the goal of owning a dress from that era off of my bucket list.  There was also a flapper dress from the 1920s, but it was shredded.  I opted to leave that one at the sale.

This yellow one is my personal favorite.

I am pretty sure this sheer shirt was supposed to go over a night gown, but I'm wearing it as a shirt!

This 1940s dress suit is too big for me.  The lucky lady this will fit is an extremely lucky one.

Maybe this one is tied for favorite?  Second favorite?

Okay, here is the real number one favorite.

What do you all think?  I am massively excited.

what I wore: dreaming it is summer

I feel like school needs to end, so I can just sew, crochet, go to estate sales, and have picnics all day, every day.

Instead of me going to what would have been the best estate sale of my life, I had to send my mother to the best estate sale of her life with the promise of me paying her back for whatever she purchased for me.  She made me the proud owner of gorgeous vintage clothing and a massive magazine from the 1960s.  I just... wasn't there to buy them, which is half the thrill.

I'm just thinking of all the amazing sales I will go to when I'm no longer in school!  I feel better now.

April in review

April was a fun, crafty month with quite a few victory rolls on and off the blog.  After buying so much fabric and clothing, tablecloths, and curtains, I have an entire summer's worth of restyling and sewing projects!

favorite sewing project: I sewed a 1940s dress for the sew for victory challenge!  If you watch the recap video, I'm the first picture in it!

Favorite pictures:  I found an old pay phone in an antique store!

favorite outfit: this sheer 1940s dress with a short slip under it was a pretty cool outfit.  Again, with victory rolls.

favorite event:  PROM!!

favorite hairstyle:  let's take a guess.. victory rolls!

Planted earth antique store

Today is my mother's birthday. Happy birthday mom!  I really hope she has had an incredible day, I wish I could have spent the first half with her!

The pictures are some treasures I found at the antique store with her and some family.
