Tea

Over a cup of tea I would tell you...

Life is crazy. I haven't gone without posting this long since I started blogging! I haven't been doing a lot of things I love, actually. I have not finished one painting since school started. I haven't sewn a vintage dress in what feels like an eternity (but good news, missed readers, I have some projects underway!).  The majority of this year has been spent lazy and uninspired, which makes me want to cry! I have even been wearing jeans.

Luckily, the vintage fairies paid me a visit while I was sleeping and punched me in the face with inspiration. I have finally begun dressing up again, I cleaned my room and picked up restyling it again, I watched the first half of Mad Men season one last night, I dusted off my neglected sewing machine and used it. And you know what? Simple things like these make me happy. And I always need to make time for them.

I'm not saying this ol' blog will be updated daily (as nice as that'd be). But I will do my best to post regularly. Thank you to any readers that have miraculously not given up on me!

My cave

My room is slowly being redone. I'm excited to see how it looks finished!  It's a little more difficult to redo a room with all vintage because it takes a while to find furniture at a fair prices.
I have taken down some art my mom bought and put up some of my own, which makes me very happy.  I also took down all of the magazines on my closet doors. My room instantly looked five times less cluttered! Awesome.

Prepping for my birthday

Tomorrow is my birthday and I have some pretty great plans! Lots of estate sales, antique stores, and forever 21. Until then, I will be sitting under the dryer and cleaning my room. I'm enjoying my last day of being sixteen!

Vintage white flea market

I knew that today would be the perfect day to try out victory rolls for the first time.  A vintage flea market?  Yes please!

I have to admit that I spent more money  than I should have, but it was the excitement of the whole atmosphere!  It's something that puts me in a happy-spendy mood.  There were so many vintage booths with beautiful vintage clothes and furniture. I was surrounded by strangers who could appreciate my dress and hair.  These strangers were the really cool type that wore vintage themselves, sewed, and had vintage stores of their own.  I caught a nice lady taking a picture of me but I pretended like I didn't notice.  I found it to be a huge compliment!

Down town and sketching on the trax

I had another amazing weekend in salt lake! Lauren and I rode the trax back and forth sketching random people who sat close to us.  We got caught a couple times, which really was awkward. For the most part it was incredibly fun and entertaining! We also stopped at gateway to look in urban outfitters and betty page.
After I dropped Lauren off, my mom, sister, and aunt and cousins stayed over night in salt lake shopping and hanging out. Here are the pictures from earlier in the day:

my hair..

I love changing my hair.  Most changes are pretty low key, but that is what happens when your mom is a hair stylist.  Lots of rules about what you can do to it or not.

September 2009
I got straight across bangs, and this was very big for me.  I think this is the tiny cut that gave me the bug to keep changing.

December 2009
Oh my goodness.  I went through "a little punk phase".  I made my mom chop off my hair and weave brown in it.

September 2010
I added more blonde and started letting it grow back.

December 2010
Aha! Punk part two!  Maybe emo?  You wouldn't know it because I wasn't wearing makeup at this Christmas party.  I used tons of eyeliner during this phase.  I never took pictures of myself when it was first brown, and it was dark!  It wasn't red like this picture.  Maybe it was the lighting at the Christmas party(also why there isn't eyeliner covering my lids).

February 2011
The lil' punk in me was slowly fading.  So was my hair.

April 2011
I went back to blonde

June 2011
I added more blonde and let it keep growing...
February 2012
...And growing

June 2012
I got straight across bangs again and hated it!

June 2012
My desire for pink hair was temporarily dwindled when my mom let me get extensions.

July 2012
Then I really lost it!  I asked my mom to cut off 14 inches of hair!

January 2013
I think this must have been the happiest I have ever been with my hair. ever.  Pink!

Now back to the present- Ginger!

Living the vintage dream.

Freedom! My mom to let me drive my sister and Lauren  to Down Town Salt Lake for an estate sale. (did I mention no adults??) I drove in the big snow storm without any problems. We were only down there for a couple hours, but still.  We navigated without my mom telling us where to go. The fact that Lauren's phone had a GPS is completely beside the point...
