what I wore: peplum and tattoos

Yesterday I did a photo shoot with my uncle Matt, and the last photos involved me with temporary tattoo sleeves.  I am so excited to see how they all turned out!

I was lucky enough to get a majority of the tattoos off, but one of the brands I used were actually good.  And clung to my skin for it's life.  So that brand is still on my arms.

Prom 2013

My gentleman of a cousin and I went to prom last night!  I was so happy to go with him, he was the best date a girl could hope for!

Of course, I had to paint my toes rainbow, which made my mother roll her eyes.  It's an Oakley signature.  I couldn't help it(:

When my mom picked up the dress from the dry cleaners the man who cleaned it said," Oh, this is your nightmare of a dress!  This was not dry cleaning, it was restoration!!!"  Sorry, Mr. cleaner.  It's true. This dress was pretty torn up.  But it is in mint condition now!

what I wore: beauty school drop out

I didn't really drop out of beauty school.  This shirt just makes me think of that scene in Grease.  I love the mascara, hairdryers, cat eye sunglasses, crazy ladies, and eye lashes in the print!  When I saw this shirt I knew I had to make it mine.

My saturday

I spent my saturday thrifting with my mother and grandparents.  It went by so fast! We stopped at a traveling waffle stand, went to tons of estate sales, ate lunch, and visited my great grandmother. Overall this was an incredible day!

What I wore: disco night

Let it be known that I have gotten myself yet another job. Let it also be known that I have never gotten fired. I have really done it this time. I work at an antique store! How perfect is that!? Anyway, tonight was my first day, and I got to dress up for disco night! (Nailed it!!!)

Playing teacher

I am finally teaching my sister how to sew!  This is something I have been aching to do and with spring break, I actually had the time.  She is doing brilliantly and I'm so proud of her! Way to go, little sis.

what I wore: loving the 40s

I have never been into dressing in the 1940s style.  I am a 50s girl by heart.  But I am really loving it right now!  I think posing in my sew for victory dress with victory rolls has converted me.

This dress obviously was meant to have a slip under it.  Probably a much longer slip, too.  I made it a bit risque with mine.  Until I find a plain vintage slip, or a sewing pattern for one, I will just bring an extra touch of pin up to it!

pay phone

Yesterday I went antique shopping and guess what this store had?  A vintage phone booth.  If I had the $1,499 they were asking for, I would have bought it.  Instead I spent $3 on two vintage sewing patterns.  That's pretty much all my budget can afford.

sew for victory challenge: finished dress!

I ended up falling in love with my dress I made for the sew along!  I'm so thankful to Rochelle for hosting Sew for Victory because I really would have never made this dress otherwise.

This dress really did feel like a project someone from the 1940s would have done.  This project costed me no more than $3!  That is including the fabric, pattern, buttons, and zipper.  Not bad at all, right? Everything I used was thrifted vintage.  The "make do and mend" portion really did come into play a lot because the sleeve cuff pattern pieces were missing so I made them up, which wasn't hard at all.

(I would just like to point out that I was very careful in matching all of my lines and diagonals.)
