recent finds: recognized and liked.

It is an exciting moment when the people that run an estate sale company are as excited to see you as you are to see them.  That was my morning.  There is one particular lady that I just adore.  She is so sweet and makes me feel so awesome for my vintage style!  She gives me very incredible deals too.  But that is because I  am a big spender , which is probably they also get excited to see me. Can I pretend it's for my personality?? I may have cleaned out the closet, much to other ladies despair.

There were a few women I ran into that are running a flea market with vendors selling vintage clothes that made sure to give me their card and invite me multiple times.  People appreciate vintage-loving girls with no other place to spend money.

This is an old dance costume with a skirt that can cover the ruffles.  I love it!

Here is a very wrinkled peach dress from the 1930s.  This poor thing is in desperate need of dry cleaning.

My favorite type of vintage- Formal lace dresses!

Okay, as soon as I slip these beauties onto my feet, they will never come off.

The vintage purses are in such excellent condition, it's hard to believe they're actually vintage!

All of these patterns are incredible.

This is a quilt- all of the single blocks are finished. I just need to sew them all together and finish with backing.
Lots of crochet hooks and knitting needles!

I am going to display this in my bathroom.  I love her face!

Pretty sparkly buttons!

So there are all of the great items I bought(along with a few more dresses that need mending and vintage fabric!)

A great estate

Yet another glorious estate sale today! I purchased a large amount of gems so you know what that means- recent finds post! I'll try to get it up soon.

what I wore: banjo playin'

Along with sewing, crocheting, and knitting, I am also expanding my talents this summer by mastering the banjo.  I've been taking lessons off and on for a while now.  Today is the first day I have been able to successfully play a song all the way through(pretty exciting stuff for me)!

I feel like the picture above describes my personality perfectly.  I also think my bangs go with banjos.

time for another change

I am very excited about this change, which is pretty unique. Typically, I dislike the new style or color for a couple days, then love it.  This time it was love at first sight!

Betty bangs!  These are the first bangs that I have truly loved on my face.  After they were cut, I actually tried to get my mom to shorten them even more, but not this time!

This is a brand new outfit from that estate sale I truly cannot stop gushing about, sorry for that.  I'm still not over it.  This skort has such a quirky country print, with chickens and a paisley design.  Also, take note of the bowling shoes.  There was a bit of guilt ruining them for every day use, but I figure they'll get more use this way.

This summer I am teaching myself how to knit, which makes me very excited!  The thought of having all of this free time to do whatever I please really does take my stress down a notch.  If I can survive school tomorrow, the summer is basically started.

recently thrifted: I went back!

I thought I cleaned out this estate sale yesterday, but wanted to take my mother and double check.  Wow, I really missed a ton!  Sundays are a fabulous estate sale day because they are the last and the people really just want to get rid of everything before they donate it.  This is why I like to go back for a second trip.

This little sewing machine is a pencil sharpener!  Oh my word, I can combine two loves- sewing and drawing!

This beauty really is something I have wanted to put in my room for a long time, but are always too expensive.  Until now.  I am particularly stoked for this purchase.

One very heavy box of 1950s-70s needle craft magazines are now mine.  I have so many projects that need to be created!

There were only five sewing patterns, and according to the man working at this estate sale, they were there only because there was a woman on the first day of the sale that bought hundreds and she just missed these ones.
*insert heart broken sigh here*

Why vintage bowling shoes, you ask? Because I have always wanted my own personal pair. Not because I am a great bowler, but because I think they are cool.  I definitely could not bowl a decent score for my life.  (I am famous for my final score of 14..)

Two pairs of vintage heels.  I swear the mates to these shoes are lost in the sea of vintage-mess that currently is my room.  I just couldn't locate them for the picture.

what I wore: hoarding some great treasures.

Here are the first of fourteen pairs of shorts I bought at the estate sale yesterday!  I'm not going to lie.  The horrible hoarder inside made me go back with my mother today.  I bought more! Check back in a couple hours to see even more goodies!
